Advertising and Public Relations Major
My major was actually in the College of Liberal Arts at RIT, but I did complete a marketing core in the College of Business. I was also the President of the RIT Chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America. I am very passionate about advertising, brand image, and social media, and have managed websites, as well as Facebook, Twitter, and Linkedin accounts for 5 different companies. I have also always had a fascination with commercials, and often find myself proud when the brands I am loyal to deliver ingenious commercials. I also find myself critiquing other commercials. Check out my blog, Analyze This, for all things campaign critique.
Italian Language Minor
I am Italian myself, but had only learned a few words of Italian from my family while I was growing up. I decided to pursue Italian as a minor because I wanted to be better connected to my culture, and having taken Spanish, I knew it would be pretty easy. I was able to study abroad for 6 weeks in the immersion program at RIT with Professor Elisabetta D’Amanda. We stayed in Genoa during the week to attend classes and we went on excursions to places like Rome, Cinque Terre, Florence, Turin, and more, on the weekends. I also managed social media and made a bilingual blog for the school I attended there, A Door to Italy.
Web Design and Development Minor
At my high school in New Jersey, I was in the Computer Science Academy. Only a small number of students are selected across the six district high schools to participate in this four-year program each year. The curriculum started off with Qbasic, then moved on to Java, Visual Basic, C++, and Html/CSS. I found that I enjoyed making websites the most, and customized my MySpace with my skills. Therefore, I decided to pursue web design further as my second minor. And here I am with my own website, and thankfully no falling objects here like I had on my MySpace page =]
Advertising & Social Media Enthusiasm
I have always had a liking to commercials and creative advertising and I want to hone my skills. I especially enjoy the tactic of guerrilla advertising, and the concept that “wherever there is a blank space, you can advertise on it.” Social media has become one of these spaces.
A leader by nature, at all of my previous positions I have gravitated toward social media and implemented it as a marketing tool. My wide range of experiences has granted me the ability to adapt to any client and work style. I enjoy both working individually and in teams, and value collaboration. With my public relations background, I strive to provide a quality experience over just quantity. I care about the clients and company I serve and do whatever is in my power to keep everyone’s best interests in mind.
